'Our shelter bamboozled us': Howlarious hooman presents evidence that their precious pooch is something completely different, prompting comedic reaction from the canine community

When we adopt a dog we usually know what we're signing up to. If you adopt a certain breed there are many personality traits and breed attributes you can know about in advance, or very easily search about. If you adopt your doggo from a shelter you can ask for a dog with a personality that will fit you, like this hooman who purposely asked the shelter to see the oldest dog. And you know what? It's inevitable your dog will change - just like humans dogs grow up and develop a stronger sense of self, and they may be a little different after some time.

But, you see, some dogs are actually something completely different. It might not be apparent from the very beginning, because as we've said, we're talking about adopting a dog, not anything else. Occasionally there might be another animal who wanders into your house pretending they're a dog, but you just play along in their doggo pretend game. It's not like a dog you thought was a dog, but bamboozled you completely.

One hooman of the hilarious kind 'found out' that their precious pit bull is actually a kangaroo. Obviously, it would be weird to have an actual kangaroo in Canada, where this hooman is from, but they can swear their beautiful pit bull girl is an Australian marsupial who can take anyone in a boxing match - but wouldn't because she's such a good girl. The online canine community had a blast with this comedic opportunity. You have to admit that, as a dog pawrent, other dog pawrents' doggo jokes are so relatable and funny. We laughed so hard we had to share the shenanigans.

    A year and a half ago, my boyfriend decided to rescue a puppy from a crappy person who had a litter. We were told the mom was red nose pitbull and the father is Dogue de Bordeaux. But I think they used this as a cover for what she really is. A kangaroo.

    I first suspected she may be a kangaroo when she was about six months old. Her favourite spot to sleep was between our legs. She'll then pretend to be asleep, luling us into a false sense of security.

  • That wink might be a dog thing to do, you know how charming dogs are. But the rest… The build, the color, the way you can imagine her hoppity-hops like a kangaroo… Yes, that very well might be a kangaroo.

    When we're least expecting it, she will kick her back legs as hard as possible, directly into our groin. I started googling "animals with very strong kicks" and was completely gutted at what I saw. The only animal capable of kicking that hard was a kangaroo. And she looks exactly like one.

    She also doesn't sit like a normal dog. She's rarely horizontal. She will always sit upright, just like a kangaroo. The wide chest, the muscular legs, but most of all the tail. She has given me a black eye TWICE, just from wagging her tail.

    Despite the fact that Canada is not the best place to raise a kangaroo, I've grown quite attached her. I'm hoping that you guys could give me some tips on raising a young kangaroo that masquerades as a pitbull. I don't think I'm going to tell her that I know, she seems quite pleased with herself.

  • How come all pit bulls look like kangaroos? If you really imagine this one standing on his hind legs you actually imagine a kangaroo. Do pit bulls have some kangaroo in their lineage?

    xombae OP Seriously. My girl is all muscle, she's a beast. But she has no idea whatsoever. The only time she's ever hurt me was from a happy tail to the eye. She will cower at a fluffy little puppy that's about 1/70th her size if it growls at her. I call her my brick sh -house of love.

    Seriously though, she is absolutely stunning. 100 I was supposed to get a black lab puppy to foster last April and the rescue brought me a white pitty instead. And then they promptly shut down, so now I have a white pitty forever not the same as a kangaroo, but my sympathies on the ol' bait n switch lol, happens to the bets of us
