'[I] was told I was adopting a dog.'
  • 02
A year and a half ago, my boyfriend decided to rescue a puppy from a crappy person who had a litter. We were told the mom was red nose pitbull and the father is Dogue de Bordeaux. But I think they used this as a cover for what she really is. A kangaroo.

I first suspected she may be a kangaroo when she was about six months old. Her favourite spot to sleep was between our legs. She'll then pretend to be asleep, luling us into a false sense of security.

When we're least expecting it, she will kick her back legs as hard as possible, directly into our groin. I started googling "animals with very strong kicks" and was completely gutted at what I saw. The only animal capable of kicking that hard was a kangaroo. And she looks exactly like one.

Soon, everything began to make sense. The way she would lay in the sun for hours in the summer or curl up in front of the space heater in the winter, she was yearning for her homeland of Australia.

She also doesn't sit like a normal dog. She's rarely horizontal. She will always sit upright, just like a kangaroo. The wide chest, the muscular legs, but most of all the tail. She has given me a black eye TWICE, just from wagging her tail.

Surely only a marsupial from Australia has that kind of tail strength. Sometimes I can tell she's trying to pretend to be a dog, but she's no longer fooling me.

Despite the fact that Canada is not the best place to raise a kangaroo, I've grown quite attached her. I'm hoping that you guys could give me some tips on raising a young kangaroo that masquerades as a pitbull. I don't think I'm going to tell her that I know, she seems quite pleased with herself.

thecakebroad I have a genuine fear of the chupacabra, but this is the first time I looked twice at a photo without fear of one. 11/10 not scared of this one, but it's a first.

SubstantialBat3596 ✪ She's a kangaroo?!! Obvs!! Cannot believe i fell for it! With those boxing arms, she can't be anything but! #thoughtihadadog

xombae OP Yep, another kangaroo. We need to start a support group. (I also highly recommend a protective cup for the groin region).
  • 23
eaazzy_13 her arms are muscular as h I. Awesome Thanks for sharing. Something so captivating about such a dense, powerful and capable creature being a cuddly, goofy little ham.
  • 24
xombae OP Seriously. My girl is all muscle, she's a beast. But she has no idea whatsoever. The only time she's ever hurt me was from a happy tail to the eye. She will cower at a fluffy little puppy that's about 1/70th her size if it growls at her. I call her my brick sh -house of love.

Slow Manufacturer853 I also own a kangaroo in a dog costume! Sometimes she'll climb up into my lap, and while she pulls herself up she looks just like that 4th pic
  • 28
xombae OP I knew I couldn't be the only one! It seems the kangaroos are trying to domesticate themselves. I'm okay with this.

Daisy2345678 My sympathies for being bamboozled into getting a kangaroo instead of a dog! I've heard it happens, but to see actual pictures and hear your story... ...at least she sounds like she has mercy on you. Two black eyes is better than three.

Seriously though, she is absolutely stunning. 100 I was supposed to get a black lab puppy to foster last April and the rescue brought me a white pitty instead. And then they promptly shut down, so now I have a white pitty forever not the same as a kangaroo, but my sympathies on the ol' bait n switch lol, happens to the bets of us
